The women’s printed silk scarf “Black to the Future” by Fosca’s Batik is a tribute to the album “Black to the Future” by the British jazz group Sons of Kemet.
The group's founder, Shabaka Hutching wrote his "sound poem" after George Floyd's death to redefine and reaffirm the importance and significance of the struggle for equality, civil rights and the fight for "black power".
Reproduced in a limited and numbered edition from the original hand-painted silk artwork, this scarf serves as a true manifesto, explicitly bearing the phrase “Black to the Future.”
It urges us to look back, to understand history so as not to repeat its mistakes — using a universal language like music to fight oppression and break down barriers.
